Heinemann Asia Pacific is a 100 per cent subsidiary of the Germany based travel retailer and distributor Gebr. Heinemann. Since its foundation in 2010, Heinemann Asia Pacific has established a broad network that extends from India to New Zealand. We work with strong local partners and have retail and distribution operations across ten countries in the region. In retail, we are focusing on the markets of Oceania, Malaysia and Greater China.

Oceania

Heinemann Australia Pty Ltd (now Heinemann Oceania Pty Ltd) was established in 2014 to represent the Heinemann group in the Oceania region. Today, Heinemann Oceania operates nine Heinemann Tax & Duty Free sites across Sydney and Gold Coast, and one Hermès boutique at Sydney International Airport. tbd: Auckland

The first Australian Heinemann Tax & Duty Free shop opened at Sydney International Airport in February 2015. In April 2018, Heinemann Australia secured a seven-year contract for two shops at Gold Coast Airport which began operating in October 2018.

In February 2020, Heinemann Australia secured an eight-year extension of its Tax & Duty Free contract at Sydney International Airport, extending tenure until December 2029. The main departures store at Sydney will execute a new design concept in 2021-2022, delivering a refreshed luxury world-class shopping experience.

In 2024, Heinemann Australia won concessions to operate exclusive new retail concepts at Auckland Airport, representing its market expansion to New Zealand. Heinemann Australia shortly thereafter rebranded to Heinemann Oceania to reflect its expanded footprint, and to reinforce its ambitions to further grow its business in the region.

Heinemann Oceania is proud to boast a dedicated crew of over 580 team members, delivering on exceptional brand and service promises in terminals. Each team member is committed to being a key player in travel retail by becoming the preferred partner for landlords, operators and suppliers, while maintaining our enduring commercial relationships and fostering mutual growth with business partners.

Malaysia

Heinemann Duty Free Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (HDFM) was established in 2012 and commenced operations in 2014 under the brand name "be duty free". HDFM is a wholly owned subsidiary of Heinemann Asia Pacific. It today operates over 1,686 sqm of retail space, across the key categories of perfume, cosmetics, confectionery, local products, toys, fashion, and accessories at KLIA2.

In 2022, Heinemann renewed its contract with Kuala Lumpur International Airport and redeveloped its shops and brought the Heinemann Duty Free brand to Malaysia. As part of the redevelopment, Heinemann has created a new open shop concept, opening up the floor plan for improved visibility across the shops stocking Perfumes & Cosmetics, Fashion & Accessories, Confectionery and Toys.

Greater China

Heinemann Asia Pacific has operated the SWEET DREAMS by Heinemann confectionery concept shops at Hong Kong International Airport since July 2018. Our other retail operations have included branded shops under license for internationally renowned exclusive fashion houses Versace at Hong Kong International Airport and Bvlgari at Beijing Capital Airport.

We have also operated a sales office in Shanghai since 2010 to oversee Heinemann’s distribution accounts and cruise businesses in the Greater China region.

Since 2021, Heinemann has operated two stores at the H853 shopping mall in Lisboeta Macau, one of Macau’s newest travel destinations.
